- The NASA Mars Rover
3 missions were recently sent to Mars, in 2021. The high frequency of the missions sent by NASA were due to a coincidence taking place. The orbit of Earth and Mars exactly aligned during this period of time, allowing for covering lesser distance for going to Mars, saving energy. NASA’s Perseverance Lander, observed Mars and was equipped with a variety of tools to collect and test rock samples from Mars. The Perseverance Rover will collect 43 rock samples from Mars which will be sent back to Earth in caches through The Sample Return mission. The Sample Return mission is still being planned.
2. Most powerful quantum processer yet, made
A quantum processor is a processor which uses quantum physics to process data. It is the fastest way of processing Data. Quantum computers can do what the normal computer does in months, in seconds. In November 2021, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation) launched it’s 127-qubit Eagle, which is the most powerful quantum processor yet. This quantum processor cannot be simulated by any classical computer.
3. Malaria vaccine for kids
The world was met with the Malaria vaccine in 2021, by the name Mosquirix. It was advised that this vaccine be used for kids. It works by the following way- it stimulates the body to make antibodies against the parasite, neutralising it, and preventing it from entering liver cells, since malaria affects the liver. The effectiveness of this vaccine lasts for an year.
4. HIDDEN WORLD UNDER ANTARCTIC ICE
Recently scientists discovered a secret ecosystem which was found more than 1600 feet below the surface. Researchers brought this hidden world into the light and it revealed a dark and jagged cavern filled with tiny, shrimp like creatures.

5. HAVE A BLANKET….OCTOPUS!
Recently, scientists discovered a new species of animals, known as The Blanket Octopus. They are venomous, and have a webbing in between some of their arms. They are carnivorous. Males are about 0.9 inches long while females are upto 6 feet long. They have a distinctive membrane which connects their eight legs together. They are found in both tropical and the subtropical regions.
