Mars is the 4th planet from the Sun and the second smallest planet in the solar system after Mercury . It is named after a name of a Roman God of War . It is also known as the “ Red Planet” because of it’s red colour .
IS MARS HABITABLE ?
Now , you may be thinking , “ After all , what do I do by knowing this information ? “ . It’s completely useless to me !
But , before going back , wait a minute , have you ever wondered , “Is Mars habitable ? Their are any claims regarding Mars being habitable but is it really that way ?
Well , technically , the items required for you and me to live at any place , is food , warmth , some cold and air . Now , let’s be obvious , can you really do anything without breathing ? The simple and obvious answer would be NO . Well , then , bad news. 😔 Mars is only habitable until you run out of oxygen in your oxygen cylinder .

- It’s colour comes from iron oxide which is present in large amount on Martian surface .
- It can get very cold out there in Mars . Like reaching temperatures of -140°C .
- Mars is home to the highest mountain in our Solar System – The Olympus Mons which is about 3 times the length of Mount Everest
- We can jump three times higher on Mars than that we do on Earth !!!
